Re: The late Marlene Evans
My sincere condolences on the news of Marlene…
From the late 1940′s /early 1950′s I will always remember her coaching the chorus of ‘swallows” house down at the now KPS… where we did many classes in army tents that Mr. Stevens arranged in after the fathers of us baby boomers came back from ww2 in 1945. I did my morse code tuition from her late dad (Bakka Evans) and became a radio ham through him. The corner house that she lived in as schoolgirl on the corner of grey street and oosthuizen elandia, 4 houses from where I grew up, was facing the open veld – where schoonspruit high school was later built.
R.I.P. Marlene.

Milner legend, Marlene Evans, passed on this morning suddenly of an asthma attack.
Miss Evans suffered from asthma but had, a few years ago, recovered from colon surgery and was well. Her mother who is 97 and her sister Poppie lived with her in Klerksdorp.
We offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Miss Evans.
Marlene was loved and respected by all.
She will be greatly missed.
